Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-09
This site is run by Arch Soong (宋晧溓) under the name AssignArch. This page explains what data I collect, why, which third parties receive it, and what you can do about it. Written in plain language, not legalese.
What I collect
What you give me: your email address. Collected only when you fill in a subscribe form yourself (homepage, book page, newsletter page). The forms ask for nothing else — no name, no phone number, no other personal details.
What is collected automatically: usage data. Google Analytics 4 records which pages you view, how long you stay, which site referred you, your device and browser type, and approximate location (country/city level). This tells me which articles people actually read. It is not used to identify you personally.
What I do not collect: there is no payment flow, so no payment or card data; there are no accounts or logins, so no passwords; there is no comment system.
How I use it
Your email is used for three things: sending the newsletter you subscribed to, delivering the free resources you requested (the PM Skills Checklist PDF, the book preface), and occasional news about the book or courses.
Usage data is used for one thing: deciding what is worth writing next.
I do not sell, rent, or trade your email to anyone.
Who else receives your data
Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — the email service that sends the newsletter, based in the United States. Your email address is stored in their system. Their privacy policy: kit.com/privacy
Google Analytics 4 — website analytics, provided by Google. It sets cookies in your browser (typically named `_ga` and `_ga_*`) to distinguish unique visitors. GA4 does not store full IP addresses by default.
Apart from those two, and anything legally required of me, your data goes nowhere else.
Cookies and tracking
Google Analytics is the only thing on this site that sets a cookie. There are no advertising pixels, no Meta Pixel, and no remarketing tags.
If you would rather not be counted, you have three options: block third-party cookies in your browser settings, use private/incognito mode, or install Google’s official Analytics opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Everything on the site keeps working either way.
How long it is kept
Email: kept until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom — one click removes you from the list. No reason needed, no need to ask me first.
Usage data: deleted automatically according to Google Analytics’ default retention period.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to see, review, correct, restrict, or delete your personal data. This right is granted under Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act, and I extend the same handling to readers elsewhere.
Email hello@assignarch.com and I will handle it within 30 days. If you ask for deletion, I will permanently remove your address from the Kit list.
Children
This site is written for adult readers. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
External links
Articles may link out to other sites. Once you leave, how they handle your data is outside my control — please read their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes — adding a new third-party service, for example — I will also say so in the newsletter.
